‘Yellowstone’ star Kelly Reilly blasts ‘bulls–t and fakeness’ of Hollywood

Kelly Reilly, known for her fierce portrayal of Beth Dutton on Yellowstone, keeps the show’s overwhelming fanfare at arm’s length. “I don’t participate in the noise. The only safe place for me is in the work—and then home with my husband,” she told Town & Country.

Before joining the hit series, Reilly was ready to retreat to a quieter life in the English countryside with her husband, Kyle Baugher. But when the script for Yellowstone landed in her hands, it reignited her passion. After a call with creator Taylor Sheridan, she was offered the role on the spot, despite not auditioning. “I was terrified…it took me a minute to find [Beth],” she admitted.

Reilly is drawn to Beth’s complexities, embracing her flaws and shadows. “It’s not just about playing strong women…Male characters can be messy and still heroic. Why not women?” As the show’s future remains uncertain, Reilly expressed mixed feelings about continuing without Kevin Costner but is intrigued by exploring Beth in peace. “Wouldn’t it be fun to watch Beth go to therapy?” she mused.
