Kevin Costner Opens Up About His New Docuseries
|Kevin Costner’s new docuseries, Yellowstone to Yosemite, airing on Fox Nation, explores the historical 1903 journey of President Theodore Roosevelt and conservationist John Muir through Yosemite. In an interview with Garden & Gun, Costner highlighted the importance of preserving America’s natural treasures and the challenges early parks faced due to the lack of protection systems.
He noted that while places like Yellowstone were declared protected, there were no structures in place to enforce that protection. “Those early parks were still being overrun because they could not be watched carefully, and the nature of man is to take what he can, even if there’s a fence or a sign,” he explained.
Costner also emphasized the environmental concerns that persist today. Despite greater awareness, he believes humanity remains on the brink of ecological disaster. “We never thought an ocean could be exhausted, but they’re not fishing for salmon off the coast of California for the first time in 15,000 years. I mean, what’s going on?” he said.
Through Yellowstone to Yosemite, Costner hopes to spark conversations about conservation, history, and the future of America’s natural landscapes.
