‘Horizon’ star Kevin Costner reveals what he’s looking for in next romance
|Kevin Costner, 69, finalized his divorce from Christine Baumgartner in early 2024 after an 18-year marriage. The split followed months of legal proceedings, marking the end of a relationship that began in 1998 and saw the couple raise three children together: sons Hayes, 15, and Cayden, 17, and daughter Grace, 14. Reflecting on his past relationships, Costner shared his hopes for a future partner who embodies love and mutual support, saying, “A person who wants to be loved, and they want to be… at their very best. And that love helps that and doesn’t hinder it.”
Shortly after the divorce, rumors began swirling about Costner’s personal life, particularly about a potential romance with singer Jewel. The two were spotted on the British Virgin Islands, leading to speculation of a budding relationship. However, Costner addressed the rumors during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, firmly denying that they were dating. “Jewel and I are friends. We’ve never gone out, ever,” he said, describing her as “special” but emphasizing that their relationship is purely platonic. Costner explained that the two met during a trip to Richard Branson’s Necker Island for a foundation event, where he had meaningful conversations with Jewel and others, including actress Emma Watson.
“I don’t want the press to ruin this for us,” Costner added, explaining that he values their friendship and doesn’t want false narratives to complicate it. He also expressed frustration at how quickly such rumors spread, despite the context of the trip, which involved a group of nine people.
Costner’s personal life isn’t the only area of change. He recently confirmed his departure from the hit series Yellowstone, citing lingering questions about the show as his reason for stepping away. “The time to step away was now,” he told Fox News Digital. Costner shared his decision on Instagram, stating, “After this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone, that beloved series that I love… I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue.”
As he wraps up his work on Horizon: An American Saga, Costner is shifting his focus to new creative ventures while embracing life as a single father. Despite the challenges of navigating change, he remains hopeful about the future, both personally and professionally.
