Pam Dawber Had 1 Condition to Appear on ‘NCIS’ Alongside Real-Life Husband Mark Harmon
|Pam Dawber appeared as journalist Marcie Warren on the April 6 episode of NCIS. Because she is the wife of the series’ star, Mark Harmon, the CBS show has tried several times over the years to convince the ex-Mork & Mindy star to co-star with her husband.
This time, she finally said “yes” – but only on one condition.
Pam Dawber always had one reason why she didn’t appear on ‘NCIS’
Harmon has been the star of NCIS since the show’s inception in 2003. He has played Leroy Jethro Gibbs for nearly 18 seasons.
Or it was just before Christmas and you were like, ‘I can’t do this.’ My parents are visiting from out of town.” I was interested in pursuing the business.”
When she became a mother, the former ‘Mork & Mindy’ star decided to stop acting full-time
Harmon and Dawber married in March 1987. She was the star of “My Sister Sam” at the time. People had just named him the Sexiest Man Alive after three seasons on St. Elsewhere as Dr. Robert Caldwell.
But after the couple nurtured their sons Sean in 1988 and Ty in 1992, Dawber decided to quit acting full-time so she could focus on raising her children.
“I was on a top-rated show.” I had my own arrangement. I was able to perform on Broadway. I was able to participate in musical theater. Dawber told Good Housekeeping, “I got to do cartoon voices.” “I did everything in this business until I had children and decided, ‘I’m not going to pursue that fame.’”
When Pam Dawber agreed to appear on ‘NCIS,’ she stipulated one condition
Dawber has worked on and off over the last three decades. Her most recent TV appearance, however, was in the reboot of The Odd Couple five years ago. When NCIS offered her the role of Marcie, the 69-year-old didn’t think she’d say yes. She “fell in love with what they wrote” when she read the script.
Dawber eventually decided to accept the role, but she had one specific voow before she signed on the dotted line.
NCIS: Pam Dawber admits she was nervous about her return to TV – “What if I suck?
“Before signing, I spoke with the writers and producers and told them, ‘If this is a romantic interest, I’m not interested.’” “They didn’t say anything about that, that’s not where we’re going with this,” Dawber explained.
Pam Dawber was terrified of appearing on ‘NCIS’
Dawber stated that she became anxious as soon as she agreed to the role. “Oh my God, am I going to do this?” she wondered. She was nervous because everyone had big-screen HDTVs, which caused her “anxiety bubbles.” She started to wonder if she’d remember her lines and if she’d “suck.”
Dawber was able to film her four episodes despite her fears. But she says she won’t watch the episodes on DVD because she doesn’t want to be reminded of how old she is or how bad she feels about her hair. She refers to her graying hair as “C0V1D 19 platinum.”
