Kevin Costner Reflects on Future Love Post-Divorce: ‘People Are Meant to Be Together’

At the Los Angeles premiere of Horizon: An American Saga, the first installment in a multi-film series he both directs and stars in, Kevin Costner shared his thoughts on future romance. When asked about the possibility of finding love again, the Oscar-winning actor expressed, “My heart? Well, people are supposed to be together. So I’m sure that could happen for me.”

Now 69, Costner also spoke about his deep commitment to bringing Horizon to life. “I’m really happy with the movie,” he said. “The reason I wanted to direct it was to create the vision I had in my mind. If you don’t like it, it’s all on me. If you do, just know that every little detail was crafted with care.”

Costner’s divorce from ex-wife Christine Baumgartner has been finalized after she filed in May 2023. The couple shares three children—Cayden, 17, Hayes, 15, and Grace, 14—as well as Costner’s adult children Annie, Lily, Joe, and Liam. Christine, 50, has since started a new relationship with Josh Connor. Reflecting on love, Costner remarked, “I think everybody would like to be in love. There’s such a good feeling associated with that. It may be defined differently now, but I love the idea of that possibility.”

He emphasized, “I’m not going to let anything harden my heart.” During a recent interview with Howard Stern, Costner addressed rumors about dating singer Jewel, clarifying, “No, Jewel and I are friends. We’ve never gone out ever. She’s special to me, and I don’t want these rumors to jeopardize our friendship.”

Costner continued, “We’ve had some great conversations, and she’s incredibly smart. We’ve both been through a lot, which has fostered our friendship. There’s no romance between us; it just hasn’t happened.” He praised Jewel, saying, “She’s beautiful and smart enough for all those things, but it simply hasn’t materialized for us.”
