Kevin Costner Introduces New Romance on the Set of ‘Horizon’ as Third Western Production Begins

Kevin Costner understands the value of having a trusted companion while working on film sets.

The Oscar-winning actor recently announced that production has kicked off for the third installment of “Horizon: An American Saga.” On Sunday, he shared a heartwarming photo on Instagram featuring his new puppy, Bobby, who was happily perched in Costner’s director’s chair during filming. “Bobby Update: He’s a natural on set,” he captioned a series of adorable snapshots, tagging #HorizonAmericanSaga.

Bobby, a yellow labrador, sported protective booties as he explored the set on a leash. Costner first introduced the “newest addition to the family” earlier this year, expressing his affection: “I’m already in love with this special guy,” he shared online. While Bobby might have been barking commands, Costner was hard at work in his directing role earlier this week.

“Back on the ground working on #HorizonAmericanSaga Part 3,” he posted alongside photos from the set. “It’s hard to believe Part 1 will hit theaters in less than a month. I hope you’ll check out what we’ve created.” His upcoming film reflects his enduring passion for the Western genre, a project he’s dedicated nearly 30 years to.

“I don’t know if ‘passion’ is the right word,” Costner told Entertainment Weekly. “I just don’t fall out of love with the things I enjoy. I’m always on the lookout for the next great movie.” Earlier this year, he released the first trailer for the four-part, post-Civil War drama, showcasing the Wild West frontier that has become a hallmark of his career since his directorial debut with “Dances with Wolves.”
